Picnic by the Traun
Explore the Welser Traunauen on a walk. Winding paths lead from Wels along the River Traun to the Welser Traunauen recreational area. With its unique flora and fauna, the Traunauen are a recreational area for people and nature. It is also wonderful for picnics and relaxing in the various places next to the Traun. Especially in the morning or early evening when it is quieter.
At the Zwimger
Did you know that the people of Wels used to wash their laundry here? Today, the idyllic square along the former Mühlbach stream invites you to relax and linger.
The green area "Am Zwinger" runs along the southern city wall and is easily accessible via several entrances - including from Adlerstraße, Burggasse, Pollheimerstraße or through the new passageway at the former Minorite monastery.
A very special atmosphere unfolds between the backs of historic villas and the medieval city wall: centrally located, but quiet and secluded - a real insider tip in the heart of Wels.
